I was going to give 3* but I decided that would be unfair as it's not an expensive entry fee. My reasoning is that when Babs (the record breaking old car) isn't on show, which apparently is quite often, there's not a lot to look at unless you're a major petrol head.
And the big empty car-shaped space makes it look like the place revolves around Babs - I'd have been happy if they'd filled the gap with any sporty looking car or motorbike just so it doesn't stand out so! Plus, pretty much everything is behind glass, so it's almost entirely a visual experience.
Risking seeming very uncouth and ungrateful I should also wonder why a museum so closely associated with Pendine Sands, which is around 10m away from the building, doesn't have much of a view of the beach. Some low level windows in the seaward wall would have added so much to the experience and put the exhibits in a proper context (and remember this is Wales so the weather outside isn't always nice for standing around).
However, to avoid being too cranky I should mention it's clean, bright, modern and with friendly staff. Plus, the gift shop is nice, although it didn't have much in the way of 'pocket money' or 'tacky tourist' souvenirs (in fact, most of the shop items aren't much associated with speed or Pendine, but seem very good quality).
So overall I have to say go visit as it's got to be high up the bucket list of any petrol head or speed freak. I just wish they had a bit more to look at, or even touch - just display some of Babs old spark plugs and oil filters and I'll be happier. Sorry!

Staff were great very informative and friendly!
Location is great right on the sea front with a play park and cafe next door.
Could do with getting a few babs car toys in stock 😂.
Great place worth a visit very small but also very reasonable and you can come and go all day if you buy a ticket.

Looking for something to do today we came across the museum on Google and decided to have a look. Very interesting and informative with a few interactive exhibitions. Very friendly staff. Not expensive for what you get.
Can see this being very busy during the summer as the beach is vast.

Wonderful exhibition on the history of this place. Great to see Babs and lots of interactive activities ideal for the young and young at heart visitor. I even took my mobility scooter onto the sand for a spin.

It's extremely interesting. I already knew about Babs and saw this place being built. Thanks, Owen Wyne Owen Babs lives in memory of an extraordinary brave driver, Mr Thomas. Having driven on the sands, I can testify how brave they were to do up to 200mph. Parry Thomas in 1926/7 at 170 mph amazing.

Great little museum. Can be done in around an hour and a half if you take the time to study the exhibits and read the info. Seeing the record holder car "Babs" from the 1920's was great for a petrol head like me. Recommend and the beach is great too!

I didn’t think I’d enjoy the museum and went purely to keep my husband company, but I did really enjoy the experience. The exhibition on Amy was really interesting, and the video mixing old and new footage was beautifully shot, I just wish it had been longer. Lovely museum that doesn’t take too long to look around.

OK for a rainy day. You'll struggle to spend more than an hour here, 90 minutes if you read everything.

Nice but small. Well presented, but after reading every board and taking as long as we could, we were still in there for less than an hour. MOD and Amy Johnson sections were interesting. The highlight was that Babs was there (but that's only there during the summer)
On the way out, a lady working there asked if we enjoyed it. After we hesitated to answer, she told us that the Babs video was the best bit and everyone else enjoyed it (as if we're wrong if we didn't think so as well). I'm sorry to say it was a disappointing mishmash of video editing that did little to demonstrate the power and speed going over 170mph.
Maybe it would be better to go with kids who would play with the hands-on section, so you could stay there a bit longer.

Museum was a lovely visit, children enjoyed however very very rude woman on reception. Left us not wanting to go inside. If it wasn’t for my 11 year old son who really wanted to go in, we wouldn’t have gone in but it was his birthday and his choice of activity. My mum sat outside and waited as she refused to go back in. Customer service training required. Spoiled our visit. No wonder there was a lack of people inside visiting.

Very well put together museum, displays are very informative and the photos and videos entertaing. Tables outside for viewing the famous sands while drinking their coffee and munching on their cakes. Hard to beat.
